As a Barça fan, I would’ve loved to see him come back. Maybe in the long run, it might be better for the club, but I think the best-case scenario is, and tbh always was, he comes to Barça back on loan. Barça doesn’t have to spend anywhere near as much money, he can get a proper farewell, and at the very least be a leader in the dressing room that helps provide confidence and morale to the team, like Drogba when he came back to Chelsea in 14/15.

Tbh, the revenue push he would have brought in with his arrival would have been insane. And this time he was coming at a very low salary as compared to before and considering the effects of the assets in TV rights Barca have sold, the only way Barca can make money is to increase revenue by marketing or TV rights. So Messi coming to Barca would have been a huge revenue boost
