Born a Muslim in Egypt, I studied a lot of Islamic history in school, but this video was surprisingly eye-opening. Seeing everything laid out in one chart made it all click in a way textbooks never did. I even learned new things about places like Oman, which rarely get mentioned in most resources I’ve come across.

Fun Fact: Islam skyrocketed in Persia during the reign of the Samanids, because the Samanids promoted an Islam tied to Persian identity. When Persians felt they could be proud Persians AND Proud Muslims, Persian Islam skyrocketed. This Persianate Islam was the standard form of Islam adopted within india

A timeline of Islamic texts would be great. From the Quran, the hadiths, the fiqh... Who wrote them, under which political power to infer how politics could have influenced the texts...

Isn't it, that the name of the _Shias_ came from the name of the group suppoerting Ali: _Shi'at Ali_ ("the Party of Ali", if I'm not mistaken)? Am missing that in the video (and maybe also in the chart). And where did the name of the _Sunnis_ come from?
