A lot of celebrities retire on "farms". They buy up farmland because farmland is taxed at a MUCH lower rate than regular residential property. They hire workers to maintain the farm to keep it legit, since they would have hired landscapers for their yard anyway. Now, they have what is essentially a giant yard and they can renovate the farmhouse into a mansion while simultaneously paying lower taxes.
