Mooer Audio: OCEAN MACHINE (taking a trip with...)

Показать описание

Mooer's Ocean Machine is a collaborative design between Devin Townsend and Mooer. Mr Townsend wished for a machine that could satisfy his love for dual-delay and reverb driven ambient soundscapes; the Ocean Machine is the realisation of that dream. It features 2 x stereo delay engines each with 9 algorithms and a reverb engine also with nine algorithms. The three engines plus the 44 second looper can be routed in virtually any order (and on the fly!) for a countless number of sonic possibilities. It so much fun I lost a couple of days playing with it before I stopped myself and shot this video. You have to try one!

I'll upload a more explanatory video in the near future. As there are many comprehensive demos already out there, I figured a practical demonstration would be more useful.

Main features

• 2 independent DELAYS with 15 different delay types, 0-2 seconds of delay time and optional ping pong effect
• A high fidelity spacious REVERB with 9 different reverb types and shimmer effect
• Programmable order of effects chain
• Delay and Reverb freeze effect
• Tap Tempo functionality with independent relative tempo options
• An audio looper with 32 MB of storage memory providing a total of up to 44 seconds of recording time
• 2 standard modes of operation
• A multitude of extra programmability options via the LCD menu
• External switch and expression pedal inputs for more control options
• All basic delay and reverb parameters can be adjusted via dedicated control knobs for fast and easy adjustment on the fly
• 8 banks with 3 presets on each, providing a total of 24 preset spaces
• Midi programmable
• Full stereo inputs and outputs
• Adjustable Global EQ settings, input and output levels for easy integration and great results with all different kinds of instruments and setups

Holy shit, I have buyers remorse. In the past year I've bought the TC HoF2, Walrus Audio Descent and Walrus Audio Fathom. Those 3 pedals set me back $600 without tax. I also bought the Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run V2 which is Reverb and Delay, that was bought used at $250. I could have purchased this and the Delay Unit and saved money with more options.

The only Mooer effects I heard were the Shimverb and their multi effects systems and they weren't very impressive. This sounds like a Strymon Big Sky and is a lot less money.

My problem is when I have GAS I run out and buy shit. I need to do more research and have MOOER self control.

Brett deserves a commission for everything he reviews. Always a great job and amazing presentations. I’ve purchased a few pedals based on these videos. This might be next.

Just ordered one because of this - and I don’t even play guitar! I’m a synth guy and can totally see this used with synths

When I want to know what a piece of gear does and how it can sound, Brett Kingman delivers the goods. Thanks for demoing with competence.

This unit is dirt cheap considering it’s quality and vast expanse of fx options. Thanks for taking us along for the trip;)

After listening to the very beginning and the very end of this video, I think you are for the birds! Seriously, I have listened to a number of folks demoing this pedal and you are without a doubt the best one of all of them, whether you like it or not!!!

i agree, it's the best demo of this pedal. I think this machine could take over many more expensive delay pedals. I think it is very very versatile, and has everything

This sounds like something Eric Johnson would have a blast playing. With his clean tone and chord progressions it just fits his style.
