I bought a brand new DRZ last year and immediately felt what you said, outdated and expensive. My bike got stolen a couple months later and I replaced with a Husqy 701sm and couldn’t be happier!

As much as I love the KTM/Husqy/Gasgas the prices are high af for streetbikes when you could get something like a 600 supersport, MT09, KTM 890 etc for that price range. Really wish the japanese would step up and do a 450-650 or so supermoto at a lower price point and normal street service intervals. Although they probably wouldn't weigh 300ish lbs.

First off...Really enjoyed watching your video. I personally ride a 2021 KTM 690 SMCR and my son has the 2020 Husqvarna 701 SMC..both pretty much the same bikes like was described in the video. We did do some minor mods to make them "wheelie machines" ...Wings exhaust, emissions delete, rottweiler intake and power commanders....the most fun motocross riders could possibly have on the street! These bikes are well worth the money invested!
During your video, you covered the Kawasaki 300...you spoke of the power to ground being great and doing wheelies....I recently had the chance to ride one for a couple days as I was thinking of getting one for the wife. I will say that for a beginner bike...great...as for the expectations of an experienced supermoto rider..not so much. Stock top speed..down hill.. tucked and with a tail wind...83mph.. ( KTM and Husky are pulling "no clutch" wheelies at this speed). Wheelies are not even an option (making it good for a beginner). We actually had a 100$ bet going for the first one to ride a wheelie...no one took the prize, not even by dumping the clutch at a high rpm. I'm not knocking the bike, just want people to be that much more informed as to the dollar vs expectation ratio..

The Sherco 50cc you talked about is one of the popular bikes among teenagers here in europe, at 14 you can get a 50cc moped license and can drive one of these bad boys, altough they are limited to 45kmh by the law. But here comes the fun part, these shercos have a Minarelli AM6 engine, which almost all 50cc enduros and supermotos have, making it easy to find parts to mod the engine with such as the carb, exhaust, ignition, ecu, crank, reeds, and most importantly the cylinder to increase the volume. People like myself have brought this engine from 5hp to over 10hp and some even at crazy figures like 34hp making it as fast as 125 2 stroke.

I’m SO STOKED for my 2023 KTM 450 SMR. I race big track with a KTM RC8C and ride kart track as my main way of training (previously with an Ohvale GP2) but decided to go 450 supermoto route for the size and higher speed to get as similar as possible to my RC. So stoked!

Good stuff. 👍🏾 I like the idea of a 450RL SM build. I have a facility about 11 miles away that has SM and MX tracks and some of the best trail riding in the country is nearby, so being able to convert from use to the other is pretty attractive (as inconvenient and time consuming as it might be). If I don’t do that, I may consider building a Beta SM or getting the TM or one of the KTM race ready flavors.

I love my 2015 Drz, I replaced and re-jeted the carb, did the 3x3 air intake mod, full mrd header and shorty pipe combo and I felt a pretty big gain in power, just wish the frame was aluminum on them, if they did that the bike would be perfect, in my opinion.

Mr Goon: What about the FE350. I have an enduro bike that i converted street legal and I want to take it to the local kart track for open track days. What say you? Thanks for the great vids!

Great vids man! my opinion..dual sport is probs best option if limited for factory motard options in your region. Ride mine everywhere, wouldnt wanna be without one really.

We can all agree KTM makes the best bike. 9:07 Still I purchased a Husq. for other reasons.

I have trouble believing the Gas Gas bike is a better super moto, but what do I know?

I just got a 2022 ktm duke 390 for 5k. Can't beat that price and it's fun as hell. I traded my crf300l for it.

In my opinion, you can't beat converting an enduro bike to supermoto. E.g 17" wheels, tyres gearing etc... It will give you the most raw and race ready feeling from the bike along with the most power due to little weight. This is just my opinion but anyone who is into supermoto would benefit from doing this as you learn lots along the way and also have way more fun on them than a factory 4 stroke supermoto. My KTM 125 and Gasgas 250 2 strokes are amazing and I will never part with them :)

I was or might turn my 04 CRF250X into a super moto, The rebuild I did on the motor with titanium valves and a nice bottom end is lasting so long and the transmission is long enough for me, I have got her up to 70MPH on a dirt road on stock tires and a 18" rear wheel. It did not feel good sliding around but it did it. And a have a TTR125 with a yz85 front fork and the stiffer frame mod, I am waiting on a guy to give it back, I gave him a complete rebuild of parts to him and I think I am going to get super moto wheels and play with it on the street =)
