This toaster had a typical problem of burned and cut wires, that effectively cut the power, and it wouldn't turn on entirely. The neutral and grounding wire were totaly toast on this one, so the fix was pretty easy. I just cut the destroyed parts and connected the wire a little bit further in. No big deal.
I used the same ring connectors to keep the wires in place, but of course you can install new connetors, and have everything neat and tidy in the connection box. And this way you won't have to turn the edge of the wires like I did.
You can also install a new wire if you want, in the length that suits your needs, as long as it is more than 1 sq. mm in cross section. That's around 16 to 18 AWG wire. Don't use less than 1 sq. mm, because the heat from the current and the toaster itself is a lot, and the wire needs to be able to handle it.
Before disconecting AND after reassembly, test the plates for leak of power, so that you won't electrocute yourself.
And plug the connector in the wall outlet both ways, so that you'll make sure that no current is leaking towards the metal plates.
VERY IMPORTANT :
The grounding wire must be connected in the same position that it was before, which is respective of the grounding wire that connects the metal parts of the toaster. The Green/Yellow wire is the internationaly standardised color for grounding wire, and it must be connected to the same position in the connection box.
The other two wires, the Brown and the Blue, are of no importance as to where we should connect them, as AC doesn't have polarity, but the grounding wire has to be connected to the same position.
Be very careful about that.
And as always, whenever you mess with electric current, be it AC or DC, wear gloves. And have the proper tools, like the typical tester I use here.
Stay safe, thanks for watching, and if you like what you see, consider subscribing.
