Where do we go from here? After weathering the collapse of the news industry's financial model, the rise of online media, and now a global backlash against the free press and even fact-based debate, investigative journalism faces important choices. Unprecedented amounts of philanthropy are coming into the field. Is the money going to invest in needed training and infrastructure, high-profile investigative projects, technology and data, or what? For this wide-ranging discussion, we've included two top donors, leaders of two major investigative nonprofits, and a pioneering African editor.

Moderator: Sheila Coronel, Dean of Academic Affairs, Columbia University

Speakers:

Stephen King, Partner, Omidyar Network

Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye, Editor, Sunday Punch, Punch Newspaper

Maria Teresa Ronderos, Director, Program on Independent Journalism OSF

Gerard Ryle, Director, International Consortium of Investigative Journalists
