All New 2024 Ford Edge L Hybrid - Practical Family SUV Interior & Exterior

The Chinese "third" Ford Edge received the prefix L (the local predecessor also has a "surname" - Plus), which is decoded as Large, Leading, Lounge, and Lifestyle by local media. There are no doubts about the first definition (large - "large"), as the new SUV has significantly increased in size. The model's length is 5000 mm (+122 mm longer than the previous Edge Plus), its width is 1961 mm (+36 mm), its height is 1773 mm (+39 mm), and its wheelbase is increased by 100 mm to 2950 mm. That is, the Edge was comparable to the restyled Ford Explorer.

The exterior was designed in the style of other new Fords for China, with sophisticated diode optics, a wide radiator grille, and retractable door handles. Edge is exactly what the chip is - a window sill line with "fins" in the stern area. Customers will also have the option of purchasing a "sported" version of the ST-Line, which includes its own grille, a black insert on the front bumper, and a roof of the same colour.

Inside, there's a massive multimedia system display (27") that almost reaches the passenger door. Of course, the instrument cluster is virtual, and it is separate (12.3"): this display is slightly recessed. A three-spoke steering wheel and a two-story central tunnel were also added to the SUV. The new Ford Edge has seven seats (2+2+3). Second-row seat backs can be folded down, and these seats have armrests with built-in smartphone charging pads and footrests. The previous Ford Edge Plus is also available in two- and three-row configurations, but whether a five-seater version is available for the new model is unknown.

The "third" crossover will be available to Chinese customers with a 252 hp 2.0 petrol four-cylinder engine (378 Nm). In addition, a HEV hybrid (without the ability to charge from the mains) with an installation based on a two-liter turbo engine with a total output of 275 hp. and 405 Nm will be available. Ford claims that the hybrid Edge will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and will consume 6.31 litres per 100 kilometres (on the WLTC cycle). The SUV is equipped with all-wheel drive.

The next-generation "traditional" Ford Edge will go on sale in China in April, followed by the hybrid in the summer. There is currently no information on when such a crossover will occur outside of the Middle Kingdom.

Ford in America is garbage compared to the innovative and technological advanced Ford models in other countries. The attention to details and features of this vehicle is leaps and bounds beyond the basic mediocre Ford models of the US.
