Poilievre says Trudeau like a 'bank robber' who thinks he's 'virtuous' over carbon price hike

The debate on a 23 per cent hike to the carbon price on April 1st continued in question period on Monday with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland arguing that families will be getting back more than they pay. "That's $1,800 Alberta families won't get. That's $1,120 Ontario families won't get. Cut, cut cut — that's all (Conservatives) know how to do," Freeland said.

"According to the Parliamentary budget officer, carbon tax will cost Alberta families $2,943. The prime minister takes away $2,943 and gives back $1,800. It's almost like he's a bank robber who thinks he's virtuous because he tips the teller on the way out the door," said Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre in response.

Poilievre has been calling for an emergency debate in the House of Commons on Monday on the April 1 carbon price increase.

Can't listen a minute to the finance minister. The carbon tax doesn't change the behavior of the Canadians most people have to drive with their gas driven cars to work or elsewhere. Public transportation isn't available to an acceptable everywhere, not everyone can afford an EV, renters usually do not even have a place to charge an EV. The government is living in a different reality.

No one's making more off the public purse than Trudeau, Freeland and the Governor General.

Stop bringing refugees and giving them tax payer’s hard earned money, Mr. prime minister. Canadian tax money should be helping Canadians first.

Remember before 2015, when the Libs complained about a PC minister paying $16 for a glass of orange juice…

The government charges Carbon Tax in every carbon intense product that is part of the supply chain in everything produced in Canada, gives back in Rebates 90% of the revenue, charges GST on top of it, and call it "Revenue Neutral"

If the government "doesn't keep a penny" then why take the money in the first place? 🤔

I don't see the reason for adding more tax to burden Canadians. They cannot justify that adding carbon tax would help environmental policy and global warming, i just don't see it no matter where i look
