Some time you should show for people not living in European countries how thick walls are in normal home construction. In USA our outside walls are maybe 4-6 inches thick and I know there they are double that in older construction.... and homes stay nice and cool from thick walls in homes.

Rhodope Mountains are very beautifull. Full of wild life and many rare plant species. I live in the southern part of them on the Greek side. I did a trip there few years ago. Went to the gorge south of Teshel, Trigrad gorge, stopped to Shiroka laka for food. Amazing places. Beauty beyond belief.

you should have continued past Zagrajden on the same road. It gets smaller and turns into a dirt road (they call it the Panorama road). On that same road you would have seen a lot of deer and boar. That road leads to Todor Zhivkovs former hunting villa and end out on the main road to Smolyan from Assenovgrad right by Yugovo Hanche where you definitely must stop for some Rhodopski kachamak to eat and the shkembe chorba is the best in Bulgaria ... The wildlife on that road is amazing. Maybe next time.
