How do you reliably judge audio equipment? In How To Listen, part 1 I describe where to start. Part 2 will then tell you what can go wrong. (subtitled in English and Dutch - Nederlands ondertiteld).

I know that I'm late to the party, but I learned so much from this video that I had to comment. Thanks Hans!

Thank you! Really enjoying these topics - I would never dive into this topic without your videos!
The Meridian Director will be reviewed?

Glad to see you are back, Hans. These 2-part videos are rough, though. We have to wait a week after you get us interested in the topic.

Hope you are feeling better.

Danke danke fürs Machen dieses Videos!! 80dB is such a good rule of thumb to have. When you say that the human hearing apparatus is most linear at ~80dB SPL, does that simply mean that our ears are less sensitive to small perturbations around 80 dB than changes at more extreme SPLs? Mit anderen Worten: the perceived difference in sound from 75 dB to 85 dB is much less pronounced than from, say, 100 dB to 110 dB? And thus 80dB is a better choice for judging sound equipment because one is less likely to be fooled by mere SPL variations? Looking forward to part II :)

Why would you recommend 80dB as level to judge after saying it is not a recommended level from physicians?
