Salaams Paul. Excellent topic. Something that needs to be made explicit is that LIBERALISM IS AS MUCH A RELIGION, as Islam Chritianity etc. are. Liberals proudly posit their idealogy as something 'over and above' religion that is meta-religious. This is just a red herring and self deceit. Just looking at say the UN charter on human rights, it becomes clear that its akin to the 10 commandments.

Institution Building: Institutions like the IMF, World Bank, and UN were created to safeguard liberal principles globally.

Challenges to the Liberal Order
Decline of Zeal: America no longer has the intellectual zeal to lead the liberal order.
Domestic Discontent: Growing opposition at home, with criticisms of endless wars and the costs of global leadership.

Shifts in American Political Landscape
Debate Over Liberalism: Liberal values are now contested by both the left and right in America.
Left’s Critique: Focuses on economic inequalities and embraces progressivism, sometimes at the cost of free speech (safetyism).

I think it is mportant to listen and to allow our values, our beliefs to be challenged and be slow to speak.

As a young boy growing up in thr 1950s and 60s in London I saw America as a place where you ould have everything compared to England.
My father said the Americans wanted to the Worlds police force.
Due to American foriefn policy after WW2 it was based on energy security ie oil.
I think America has meddled in to many countries and made enemies especially in the middle East.
America never seems to be happy unless it has enemies or is fighting a war to fend them off.
In the late 40s it was reds under the bed, by the end of the 1950s they were scared of aliens and flying saucers.
Now its Hijabis under the bed.

I went to the US in 2019, an amazing place really but they seem fearful and love guns.
Its not only the police who like shooting people but people buy thdm for home defence and for mass shootings.
There was 623 people either killled or wounded in mass shootings in 2023.
The definition of a mass shooting is where 4 or more people are killed or wounded, this doesnt even include normal murders.
