I wholeheartedly believe the age of nations is coming to a close. That is to say in maybe 200 years or so, each region that is now a nation will be just an economic region, if that, with no real borders of the political and social kind. It will take time but I think if we survive this century and get through the roughest "patches" if you may of the impending climate disaster then a global future should become a reality.

The most influential character in leading people to be a global citizen is still governments. Yes, we can help and care for other people from all around the earth but how exactly? Helping people from poor countries immigrate illegally to your own country that is more peaceful and wealthy? Not being a racist will be the only job I can do as a normal weak global citizen, who doesn't have any political power. The key is still the authorities.

No culture or values can be allowed - or the collective cannot sustain itself.
All must sacrifice their economic interests for the sake of the collective. There can be no individual rights or private property in global governance. While it's attractive to think struggling economies can be raised up by those who are well off what typically happens (as history reflects) is everyone's standard of living is reduced for the sake of equity. There are always benefits for the rulers but the ruled are never afforded such luxuries. Alas, this is the path we are all on. Don't say you weren't warned.
