Difference Between Insurance Broker and Agent

One of the questions I am frequently asked is what is the difference between an insurance agent and an insurance broker?

An insurance agent typically represents only one company, for example State Farm, Farmers, All State; those companies use insurance agents. Their goal is to find goals that meet those companies’ guidelines.

An insurance broker is very different. An insurance broker represents you and helps you to find an insurance company that meets your needs. That may be finding a company that is within your budget, helps bring down your costs, has the coverage's that you need for your specific business, but really gives the broker flexibility to find the company that best suits your needs.

Good video, firm explanation of our Job. I often say in addition: As independent insurance brokers we are more like "shopper" for our clients not "seller" :-)
