Nekromanteio Preveza

The ancient Necromanteion of Acheron[1] is located in the village of Mesopotamos, Prevezi Prefecture, at the point where, according to Homer, "the river Acheron met with Cokytos and Pyriphlegethon, on the northwestern shores of Lake Acherousia, which was the entrance to the world of the souls". The Nekromanteio is built on top of a hill, where visitors from Akrotiri Himerio of the village of Ammoudia used to come to communicate with the souls of their loved ones. Homer in the Odyssey describes in detail the area during Odysseus' descent into Hades.
