I'm usually too impatient to play heavier games, but burncycle is my absolute favourite. Although it took me a long time to learn, it didn't feel remotely like a chore because everything just clicked for me and the theme, components and game mechanics are all awesome. The only downside is the longish setup time.

This is the most anticipated list of all for me, and the one I think is most plagued by the 'Cult of the New' aspect. There are many classic games that could be here, like Trickerion, Anachrony, Barrage, [insert any Lacerda, 18xx or Splotter game here], Arkwright, Dominant Species, Die Macher, Coffee Traders, Twilight Imperium and Mage Knight. Maybe the fact that I haven't played (or even heard much about) most of these recent games tend to tip the scale towards the Classics, but let's see if these games stand the test of time, or they will be replaced for newer games in a couple of years.

Great video guys, Some of your top picks are some of my favourite games like Kanban EV. I will have to take a look at the titles here that I have not played. Ones you didn't mention are 18XX games, these fit your criteria for the video, they are very heavy, I currently have 1824, 1830, 18DO & 1862, they are all good maybe best is 1862.

Sankore is on my wishlist, I'd love to get a copy some day! I have Gaia Project, War of the Ring, and Spirit Island on my shelf of opportunity, this video actually just reminded me of that, I need to get them played. I also just got Civolution recently and need to break it out also. My favorite chonker that you mentioned is Nucleum, but a couple others I love are CO2: Second Chance and Weather Machine. I also love Golem, but it sadly lies just outside at the moment at 3.99. A few other meaty games that I own but haven't played are Mage Knight, Roads & Boats, and Food Chain Magnate.

I got Civolution for Christmas, and I’m addicted too. Have already a dozen plays in and have tried it at all player counts.
