GOSHEN is a powerful documentary depicting the diet and active lifestyle of the indigenous Rarámuri, a light-footed running tribe, who are striving to maintain their ancient culture against all odds. The indigenous Tarahumara community is popularized in Born to Run, a best-selling novel by author Chris McDougall. The Rarámuri are renowned for their incredible long-distance running endurance and prevention of modern chronic diseases. For centuries, the Tarahumara have found a safe place of refuge in the remote depths of Mexico’s Copper Canyons. Recently, drought and famine have threatened the Tarahumara’s ability to sustain their ancient cultural traditions. GOSHEN takes you on a journey in the huarache-clad footsteps of these ultramarathon endurance athletes, highlighting the health benefits of safeguarding their way of life. Engaging and entertaining, GOSHEN will inspire you to take part in preserving the native seeds and running traditions of the Tarahumara.

Featuring Chris McDougall, Phil Maffetone, No Meat Athlete, Will Harlan, Daphne Miller M.D.

My grandfather was Tarahumara he married a Spanish/Aztec woman. We got the chance to visit my grandfather's family once, years ago when I was just a child. I haven't seen them since. I am writing a book about my grandparent's hard life here on the border of Mexico and the life they lived in the US. My grandfather lived to be 98 years old with no medical issues, my grandmother died at 102 from complications after surgery. They both walked every day and when I was young we make our beans and tortillas as they do here, both my grandparents ate vegetarian in most of their meals until they moved to the US. Thank you for making this video! This is great research for my book.

So humbled to know these are my fellow mexicans for long time ignored by the Mexican government. There is a saying "the richest man is not whom has the most but whom needs the least"

Indeed, we can learn more from them than they from us. Thanks for this lesson!

What a beautiful portrayal of raramuri people and copper canyon, one of the most unknown and geniune people in the world. These people should be studied more and we need to learn and adopt from them a lot. Truly a senasational piece of documentary.

15:05 That corn peeling is so satisfying, and the roasting corn almost smells delicious even through the video.

Hermoso e informativo documental. Mil gracias.

Today I found out I am of Tarahumara decent. Thank you for helping me learn about my indigenous roots. My brothers are actually track collegiate athletes, that have won state championships. Even though we didn’t know we came from a “running” background. very interesting and insightful!

Los Tarahumaras también comen nopales (cactus) que reducen azúcar en sangre y alto contenido de fibra. Saludos Guachochi, Chihuahua México

It’s not just the food. Look at the lifestyle, stress levels, values, etc.

I love how this explains how important it is to be active and healthy and run nearly barefoot and then right in the middle of someone talking about how they run so efficiently without shoes and an ad for sketchers boots pops up 🤦🏼
