The Muscle PhD Academy Live #049: Overcoming Genetic Limitations
Показать описание
What role do genetics play in muscle building and performance? Genetics have a huge impact on your anthropometrics, or body dimensions. Take a look at your biological parents – you’re probably a similar shape and same to at least one of them, right? We see this carry over into training, some people respond better to training while others don’t make gains as easily. This is often reproduced in studies where we see outliers on either side of the average found in the study. Some people will show as high responders to training while others may present as non-responders. This doesn’t necessarily mean that this person can’t make gains, maybe this study protocol just didn’t work for them.
If you’re finding that you’re not responding to training very well, change it up! You might need a different style of training or even a different diet to continue to make significant progress. Everyone will respond differently to specific training styles and specific diets.
For further reading, check out this study where researchers took the non-responders from an initial training protocol and found that they were able to make gains when the training volume was increased. The first program simply didn’t work for them, they needed more! The same might apply to you, so constantly track your progress and make changes where they are needed to continue pushing forward.
