If you are the president and using power to break laws, should never be considered an official act. In fact, it should be considered conspiracy and RICO when you abuse your power as president, directing your departments to commit crimes. Any government employee who knowingly follows a command from the president, where that command is a crime, should be treated as an accomplice to that crime unless they refuse the order and report the unlawful order. This ideology of immunity is not only absurd but also corrupt to its core. The ideology at most should be the government will cover the cost to defend, if acquitted great, but if found guilty the one with any form of immunity should be required to pay back the government for their legal defenses. If a president can’t be held accountable for criminal acts, there is nothing to prevent corruption. Impeachment should come after conviction, removing tittle, benefits and to prevent the crook from ever seeking office again. Anything else opens invites corruption.
