The Rise of Disney - How Disney Actually Makes Money

Disney's movie business is surprisingly not its most profitable division. Many people think Disney toys, action figures and merchandise may be most profitable, but this is not the case. Bob Iger is Disney's transformative CEO who has turned the company into a money machine with acquisitions including Pixar, Marvel Studios, Star Wars (Lucasfilm), and now 21st Century Fox.

With new assets under the Disney umbrella, Disney is looking at the world through a digital lens. With products such as Hulu, Disney Plus, and ESPN+ hitting the market, Disney will be a force to be reckoned with against competitors in the media streaming space.

Disney is a money printing machine, but surprisingly, most of the company's revenue doesn't come from its well known movie business. Let us know in the comments if you knew that and what you thought of the video. Will Disney's ESPN+ and Disney+ be successful? Let us know what you think.

Before: By taking risks and creating unique, beloved stories and characters.

Now: By absorbing properties and rehashing itself.

As Yogurt said in Spaceballs: Merchandising! Where the real money of the movies are made. [Insert any Disney movie] the t-shirt. [Insert any Disney movie] the coloring book. [Insert any Disney movie] the lunchbox. [Insert any Disney movie] the frame thrower. The kids love it. Last by not least, [Insert any Disney movie] the doll.

In all seriousness, Pixar really saved Disney all thanks to Iger and the late Steve Jobs.

Oh you best BELIEVE Disney's main cash cow is TV. Next to $25 burgers at their theme parks.

So basically Disney is by and large from Wall-E. That's ironic. Because Disney made Wall-E.

Theme parks, movies, tv series, media, cruise lines, merchandising of characters, books, clothes, toys, collectibles, multiple self-owned tv networks, stocks...shall I go on?

This is an excellent informative video. Disney is a power house. I just wish their gate ticket prices at their theme parks were
a lot lower. They should at least discount the price when some of their attaction rides are down for repair.

I wish they experiment with new I.P. rather just keep making remake. More experiment side so that way the consumer won't get bored from the same story.

Companies can become too big to thrive. Disney may follow General Motors and General Electric .It is hard to be creative with the cash and profit requirements like Disney .

I don’t know how people afford to go to the parks anymore. They are nice but pricing themselves out at least for me.

Too bad Mr. Iger didn't have a good relationship with George Lucas,
unlike with Steve Jobs and Kevin Feigi of Marvel; who he had good relationships with. I wonder how he will do with Fox entertainment.
