The Mk1 Ford Escort is a compact car produced by Ford Motor Company from 1968 to 1975.

Here are some facts about the Mk1 Escort:
The Mk1 Escort was designed to replace the Ford Anglia and was the first Ford car to feature a front-wheel-drive layout. It was available in several body styles, including two-door and four-door sedans, a two-door van, and a five-door station wagon.

The Escort was powered by a range of engines, including 1.1-litre, 1.3-litre, and 1.6-litre four-cylinder engines. The Escort was initially marketed as a family car but became popular among car enthusiasts for its performance potential and rally success.

In 1969, Ford introduced the Escort Mexico, a sportier version of the standard Escort designed to compete in rally events. In 1970, Ford introduced the Escort RS1600, which was equipped with a 1.6-litre engine producing 120 horsepower and featured a number of performance upgrades, including larger brakes and a limited-slip differential.

The Mk1 Escort was also available in a number of special editions, including the Escort Harrier, Escort Super, and Escort Sport. The Escort was a popular car in the United Kingdom, and it was produced at Ford's Halewood plant in Liverpool.

In total, over 2 million Mk1 Escorts were produced during its production run. The Mk1 Escort is now considered a classic car and remains popular among car enthusiasts and collectors

To think that there used to be tens of thousands of these on British roads. I owned three, plus one donor car. All rotted to bits except the last one (N reg).
Please use an air filter box, or those beautiful engines won't last long.

Makes me sad, with even the wealth i have now, ill never own anything like this... Just too expensive.
I salute these people keeping such historic cars, modified, retro mods or stock going still.

A nice big ball-raced turbo & EFI is all the red MK1 needs to complete it. Carbys are a waste of time.

Needs at least 3ins more clearance, so it can fly down a narrow forest track at 130mph!

They are pretty pointless when the bodywork is wearing the tyres out. Hardly useable, so just pretty ornaments.
