Virgin Hyperloop conducted its first passenger test at the company’s 500 meter DevLoop test site in Las Vegas, on 8 November 2020. On the Virgin Hyperloop pod, the first passengers were Josh Giegel (Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer) and Sara Luchian (Director of Passenger Experience). For the first passenger test, the top speed reached was 48 m/s (172.8 km/h, 107.3 miles/h).

So far it's nothing Disney doesn't already have.

Nobody will believe but I had imagined the whole hyperloop concept of traveling in a closed system at 7-8 years old....I never thought that will really going to happen in future

No toilets? What if I have to hyper poop? 💩

if it is shaking so much at that "low" speed, how much will it shake when it runs more than 1000 km/h?

This seems more of a promotional stunt to me rather than actual progress, like in 2017 they had this testrack going already and reached even higher speeds with a pod. In 3 years, they went from pressurized pod on a maglev track to pressurized pod with passengers on a maglev track (by combining some techniques which are well understood), credits where credits are due though good job virgin hyperloop for making a lot of headlines.
Many people are questioning the price of hyperloop or even how to fix some technical or safety problems which only arrive when you step away from short heavy controlled test-tracks. I'm just curious what the progress has been the last 3 years in those area's. Which is if I've to guess near zero, since otherwise you would use that to convince critics to invest in your company.

Reminds me of one of those 4am infomercials where everyone is smiling so artificially as they do such mundane things like cleaning a kitchen countertop with some patented super sponge. In this case its sitting in a little box and travelling at about 20mph.

Real cool to finally see a working prototype and not just some 3D renderings.
However, a 500m long test track just is too short.
IMHO, they should have have done a closed loop test track. Because the biggest foreseeable problems will be how the pod can deal with curves and also the non linear thermal expansion of the tube itself.
Things you cannot test for on a straight test track.

Wow, it's almost as fast as a car!

Seems like a lot of vibration, and the pod looks so small. Shouldn't it be bigger?

look lite a prototype from train that come from 50 years ago

short amusement park ride....albeit a very expensive and short one :)

this could really be something if they like daisy chained a few cars together so more people could ride, maybe have a platform everyone could wait at for the next hyperloop to arrive. exciting stuff! the future is here!

this thing 's real maxspeed is 172km/h.The so-called speed of nearly 1000 km / h currently exists only in theory. However, I wish every innovator success, no matter which country they come from.

A little rickety there for a second... and you'll need a door people can walk through.

The big question is not safety but wether it is economic affordable. Makes more sense to address that.

Virgin Hyperloop - ONLY passenger test...

The statement at the end is insane. One single passenger test does not mean it’s safe. What happens in an earthquake? A power outage? A pressure leak? A malfunction that fails to decelerate the pod?

How are they going to suck the air out of a tube that is lets say 100 miles long? that's a LOT of air to remove!
