Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has announced financial incentives for shale gas extraction, the controversial energy source known as 'fracking'.

Local authorities will now be allowed to keep one hundred percent of their local tax on fracking sites, twice as much as for other businesses.

This has caused an uproar among the anti-fracking protesters.

Al Jazeera's Rory Challands reports from Barton Moss.

Yet again Mr Cameron shows his contempt for the people of Britain. The "benefits" of fracking are well known, pollution of ground water and earthquakes to name but two. The only benefits to accrue to anyone will those given by the taxpayer to the firms represented by the lobbyists who bought him. It's about time to stop giving massive subsidies to oil companies the failed nuclear industry and start seriously researching alternatives.

How is it that a certain person called David Cameron can step out and say, he's giving bonuses to the councils if they are prepared to let fracking continue this is just one man. He never asks the people of England about any decisions. He just makes decisions for the banks and the corporations when are the British people going to make him answer for some of these awful decisions he make

our current economy model needs a way to implement environmental pollution into the costs of production

- a global tax for environmental pollution could be the answer
- a global tax is hard to establish so you could establish it at first in your own economy in addition you could increase the custom fees for states who dont taxate environmental pollution so they dont get a advantage on your market

its a shame that short term effects like cheap power through fracking outweights the long term effects of a polluted environment

//just a thoght
