Shane Douglas never got his dues out of the business. He emerges as one of the best story-tellers in the podcast era, and I enjoy his interviews.

Any company not looking to hire Shane for creative are sadly missing out. He's pure gold!

A weekly podcast with Shane would be super interesting. The dude is so well spoken and he's rubbed shoulders with the very best for almost 40 years. I'd love to hear more about his relationship with Mick and their early years together.

The wisdom and knowledge this man possesses about the wrestling business is exceptional

wow, this makes me like Shane even more. Thats such an old school way of looking at things that I agree with. Your opponent is putting his safety in your hands and trusting you're gonna take care of them.

what makes it (doing the dangerous bumps) worse is that there's little to no selling, what was the point of the bump, then? sure, a body slam isn't gonna end a match, but gravity sure does exist, if you get slammed, at least take a second to register and hold your back as you get up before carrying on, it's the little things...

He's so right about the "safety". I was a bridge painter for 30 years and did ALOT of hairy shit, at astronomical heights. My career(and life) completely changed from a 6 foot fall because of the way I landed. Shattered wrist, 3 blown disks in my C spine and 3 blown disks in my lumbar spine(5 surgeries). It's not the fall, it's HOW you fall.

It's so refreshing to hear someone so knowledgeable about real professional wrestling speaking from the heart and give an honest assessment of the modern state of the industry. So much of what he said not only applies perfectly to the wrestling industry today, but modern day culture and society, especially in terms of the over abundance of social media that controls so many lives. The current dependency on social media is one of the worst things to ever impact modern life, especially how it almost specifically encourages the growth of narcissism along with the implied belief that that way of thinking is not only acceptable but encouraged.

I know that both Shane Douglas and I are using a form of social media to voice our opinions despite everything said on the topic of how social media is causing a downward spiral. But regardless of the contradiction, it doesn't make the concerns we share any less valid. And like with all forms of information shared through social media, they are more often a matter of opinion rather than a matter of fact.

IMO the real problem is no selling. Jake the Snake used a basic DDT. Jake's opponents made the DDT look like a devastating finisher. Shawn Michaels used a basic super kick. Shawn's opponents made his super kick look like a devastating finisher. Every single move that the Buck's generation does should end a match and it never does. They have turned finishers into a rest holds.

The Bucks singlehandedly ruined the superkick, one of the coolest moves and finishers since the days of Chris Adams & HBK. Because of them (and Adam Cole) I can't unsee leg slaps now whenever someone does the move.

I like Shane even more than I did before after this interview.

Like Dusty told Big Bubba Rogers (AKA Big Boss Man) when he screwed up a move and almost injured someone "Don't do shit you don't know how to do"

The Franchise spitting facts. There were actually a bunch of AEW fans defending what happened when that guy was out clean. People saying that he was lucky he got dragged to the corner. Ridiculous.

But Shane…they are TREMENDOUSLY TALENTED at floor routine gymnastics, slapping their legs, and skipping the gym…so PLEASE put them over as incredible ‘wrestlers’….the AEW fans are SENSITIVE…and will riot ON THEIR KEYBOARDS.
Besides, Tony CucKhan LOVES THEM!!

If you’ve seen one bucks match you’ve seen them all it’s just a gymnastics routine 🤷🏼‍♂️

The ONLY problem I have with Pro Wrestling of today is there’s way to many Wrestlers who use to many high spots every other move. Back in the 70’s & 80’s they knew when to use it at the proper time. I’ll give You an example : Jake The Snake Robert’s used His finishing move the DDT. Wrestlers today they use the DDT as a regular move and use it like 2-4 times throughout the match. Another example would be BOTH The Late “Gentleman” Chris Adams and “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels finisher was The Super Kick. The Young Bucks and every Wrestler uses that move numerous times during the match. Hasn’t these SO CALLED Performer’s learnt the lesson of “Less Is More” and “To Much Of A Good Thing : Isn’t Always A Good Thing”????

A general rule of thumb is a wrestling fan should never be certain they could take one of the wrestlers in a street fight. It tends to ruin the suspension of disbelief.
