I'm really excited for you! 240m of elevation is nothing for you after the ultra! Get those sweeties on board!

I’ve run the at Albans half. It’s brutal. But it’s great as you get an ice lolly at the end. 😂

A race is a race! And like you said, good practice for London, hills are free speed and strength training as well so will be a great run!

I'm also running the St Albans Half! It is hilly but there's matching downhills which makes it a little better. It is usually hot too! Bonus is you get an ice lolly at the end! I'd say I'll see you there, but I will be a good hour behind you! Good luck!

I am running St Albans half marathon this year and it will be actually my first official one. Thanks a lot for this video as your comment about it not being 'that hilly' has calmed me down a little bit. Good luck on Sunday and maybe see you there at some point :)

Nice video, Chris! It should be fun to be back in a race environment again.

We all know you'll be sprinting up those hills in St Albans 😄
In terms of shoe reviews, I'd say just buy the shoes that you want to train and race in. Review them and if the videos do well think of it as a bonus. There are so many videos of the Next% 2, you'd be unlikely to rank high in the YouTube search even if it was a really good review video.
The training vlogs are good because the viewers get to follow your journey. If you are doing a mini series leading up to the St Albans Half then they'll be a good journey to follow. Might be worth setting yourself some form of goal for the race, even if you don't think it's possible to PB it, still give yourself a time related goal that the viewers can tune in to. Will make watching the race day video more exciting.

Just look at it as a strong tempo mate on closed roads, nice and uninterrupted by no people or cars 😆.. a nice build back phase 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Good luck in the HM Chris! Sure you'll smash it. I've only been running since Sept so really looking forward to my first 'proper' race in June (Oxford Town and Gown 10k). As for shoes, I bought a pair of Next% 2's when they came out but will probably want a new pair for London. My birthday is in Nov though so now birthday code for me! I have found some stores (including Nike) offer to pay in installments, which might make it more managable if you can't afford the full amount upfront.

I'm the same as you, Chris. I cringe at the idea of paying full price for running shoes these days. It seems like they are getting lighter, wearing out faster, and more expensive all the time. I don't have expendable income to keep pace with paying those kinds of prices for running shoes a handful of times a year, so I tend to look for last year's models at a discount when I can. Keep running...

Hi, I enjoyed the vid, I just found your channel. For me I try and look for a deal but don’t let that mean you don’t get the trainers you want if you can’t find a deal. I also think if you find a running shoe you like, buy an extra pair. I’m struggling to find a similar shoe since Nike discontinued the zoom turbo 2’s. Keep up the good work 🏆

Yeah the Next% are expensive, but with Next%2's price coming down and yes with that birthday offer they are well worth it. Consider the equivalent high ends shoes, they are worth it at the £209. Hope you find a way to get them. God luck in that June half mara too !
