Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Transformers: Age of Extinction!

Some people thought that three Transformers movies may have been enough. But what those people didn’t take into account was… what if more money?! That question is what led to a fourth installment in the Transformers franchise, once again with Michael Bay at the helm. But this time, with a whole new cast of human characters led by Mark Wahlberg… the inventor.

Transformers: Age of Extinction definitely raises some questions. Like what happened to Sam Witwicky? Why are the anti-Transformer people working with a Transformer? Why is Cade Yeager such a terrible person? Why are we spending so much time on these creepy Romeo & Juliet laws? Why was there an empty 30-feet deep Transformer-sized hiding spot under Cade’s barn? What happened to the Allspark being the source of the Transformers powers? How many product placements can they cram into one movie?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Transformers: Age of Extinction! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

I remember when that character said "My face is my warrant" in the theatre and someone behind me said "Oh my god this is terrible"

Wait, why can't Optimus "hide" by just...being a truck? Isn't that the whole point of "Robots in Disguise"?

"So you have a three hour toy commercial for me?"
"Yes, sir, I do!"
"Yay, money!"

The fact that Producer guy is getting more critical of these movies is the greatest character development I've ever seen

Producer Guy saying, “why are you taking this scene in this direction” was legitimately me because why even bring up the Romeo and Juliette law😭.

"This guy's name is Cade Yeager."
"Oh yeah, that almost sounds like a real name, sure!" LOL!!!

Someone having a laminated card of the Romeo & Juliet law in their wallet is such a major warning sign that I'm kinda surprised there wasn't an actual red flag in the scene.

I haven’t even seen the film but the take on the dating law literally made me spill my coffee

I like how he’s always worried about being a creep so he carries a card saying it’s okay

"Things explode, metal punches metal, good guys win, guns, boobs, America, Victory."

This was one of the best written lines in Pitch Meeting History.

"It makes me wonder why you know all this or why you looked it up so thoroughly."
Many thanks to Ryan for bringing us the questions we never thought to ask.

That "Romeo and Juliet Law" scene makes me think Michael Bay and/or his celebrity friends have some skeletons in their closet and using this scene to pacify our thoughts on it before it is publicly revealed.

"It's just a funny scene, y'know?"

“The Transformers are so awesome. There’s no way anyone could ruin them.”

Michael Bay: “Actually, it’s gonna be super easy. Barely an inconvenience.”

“Okay, but there’s no way that even you could ruin them 5 times in a row.”

Michael Bay: “Again, super easy. Barely an inconvenience.”

“Why are you taking this scene in this direction?”

“They had a pre-existing juvenile foundational relationship statute 2705-3…”

This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard in any of the hundreds of pitch meeting videos I’ve watched
