We've not done an allotment plot tour since August, and as we've had snow and I need to do some harvesting so I thought it was time to do one again.

It's really nice to have a plot tour with snow on the ground and it's been so so cold.

♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

Hello Paul. Still nice and frosty!☺️
I have a small outing planned with my daughter, and then I have to get into preparing my garden for what’s coming over night. Maybe our first frost. I always put up a small hoop house to house tender plants (geraniums which are still blooming, couple of small grapefruit plants and trimmed back moringas). I have a couple of wild tomatoes that still had tomatoes the other day.
I don’t like to let plants out there and suffer a slow death in a freeze. I just go and cut them down. I hope I’ll get back and have time to get it all done.
Stay warm.😉💗💗💗

I enjoyed this walk about in the snow. I especially liked your spontaneous joy over the finding of the tiny pansy peeping it’s head out of the snowed garden. It’s Thursday..hope you’ve warmed up a bit by now.

"Why did I take off my gloves?" The exact same question I asked myself yesterday as I was cleaning a foot of snow off my SUV.
The drive into town was horrible. The fog was so thick that a semi truck in front of me just vanished into the mist.
After my doctor's appointment, the pharmacy said it would take two hours for my Rx, so I wandered around the hardware store, picking up what I could from my list, then got groceries before collecting most of my prescriptions. I'll have to go back on Monday for the rest. But I have to go back to the hospital to get my blood works done, so at least I'll have two things to do.
The drive home was worse, as it was dark and foggy and at times I could barely see my lane to keep within the lines. But I got home safely only to have Molly hiss at me for taking five hours to pick up her kitty litter. Cats.
Nice tour. I enjoy the snow crunching underfoot, too, but don't like the cold. Winter used to be a couple of weeks in Jan. or Feb., but the past couple of years it's started in November and is very cold. Hopefully it's just because both were La nina years.
Wow, talk about waffling. I'm too good at it. :)
Cheers,
~ Jon in rural BC, Canada

Lovely tour. Love the fox trail. Always amazes me how plants survive. We’ve had three consecutive nights of minus 7 it’ll be interesting to see what does get through that in my garden.

That turnip bed looks much food! Fingers crossed the BBs are footprints? I'm so sad my Brussels Sprouts dealer is out of stock this year. 😢 Ooh, loads of lovely beetroot to come still, yay! and interesting to hear how you have been taken over by grass this year too and, as you say, it's not couch creeping in from the has done my nut this year! Oh those sweet wee a happy sight. if you do get some decent asparagus spears next year will ANY of them make it home? 😉 Get your gloves on! The garden looks so lovely in its winter quiet state. Time for it and you to breathe a I really hope you're wrong about it being a hard XXX

Hopefully the cold will help control the unwanted insects…..

Those grasses that you are having problems with could have been dropped seed from the parakeets, as it seems to be everywhere. Just a thought 🤔

Thanks for the tour Paul, your polytunnel does provide some protection . I think there is a point when without a heat source
it no longer warms up adequately
- we have stopped heating( wood stove )ours for now as we have harvested everything growing in there but will restart in Feb- our kale is not happy with the -15C.
