I think the first thing, is you need to demonstrate to every single team member that you, as a leader; actively care about their well being. You need to start thinking about your “why” for safety. Why is it so important to you to make sure that every one of your team members gets home safe, every single day, you will then need to stand up and start articulating that.

So to recap; actively care, think about your “why, communicate your “why” for safety then you need to start developing your strategies for taking it to the next level. The first three elements are foundational the balance is going to be dependant on each organizational culture and needing to know where you are at. Only after seeing the current state of your cultural maturity can you determine the strategies to take you forward.
