Yeh Pal | Xulfi

I guess it was 2009. This song was a long journey and it was embodiment of what I was writing about. Patience. Patience in the toughest of times. The fact that tomorrow it will be a new day sometimes is all that's needed. All that's needed to wait the wait with patience.
While making this, I had so many friends who contributed in this. Sami Khan, with his music and lyric ideas. Faizan Zaidi, with his whistle. A friend's sister who lent her voice for the girl parts. She's the same girl who you hear in Laaree Chootee's girl vocals too... and so many others who sang in the chorus melody part. I remember I was stuck at how to shift the song towards it's more atmospheric bridge part and then back to the original mood. Sultan came in with the idea of making a tempo ramp that slows slowly towards the bridge tempo and then back up, again slowly, while going towards the original mood. It did the trick perfectly.
This song become my friend in so many moments. I usually don't listen back to my songs as pleasure or just plain listening. This one I did though. I remember traveling across the border with my band for it's video shoot as we were doing this for a movie. That was quite a fun trip!
Yeh Pal defines a journey that was actually taking me to the next phase of my career as an artist. I didn't know that then. I know that only now. So I always remember this song with a lot of love.
Hope you love listening to this too. Enjoy.
