In my experience, the "split" call on driving is much more difficult to accomplish consistently than just alternating left and right calls to travel in a "straight" line. Yes, it hurts combo point users, but doing the mechanics correctly >>> dps.

Some raids will manage it, but it's definitely not easy to balance the dps that well for any length of time.
