We have so many problems in the US that I'm not sure the French or Germans even think about when they look at us. Our elections are very convoluted to say the least but our biggest problem by far is trying to get any sort of fairness out of our primary/caucus systems. We don't really get to choose who our representatives are. It is essentially decided upon by an administrative set of "delegates(often just former politicians)". This is how we end up with representatives that no one wants and neither side gets anything even close to what the majority of Americans support.

The DNC and RNC are not democratic institutions and are often not subject to enough rules to ensure adequate representation of the American people. Americans are reduced to spectators in the results. Its really not very democratic at all. The "consent of the governed" seems not to align with the work of the DNC or RNC. At this point in US history that is an empty slogan. Any ideas on how we can correct that(without murdering the administrators)?
