Sony PS4 Xmas Sales DOWN + PSVR Games Library to almost DOUBLE in 2018

Got a couple of Sony stories for you today. The PS4’s console sales are actually down for Christmas 2018 compared to 2017, but Sony say they’re actually very happy with the rest of their figures, like game sales and digital sales. The other bit of news involves PSVR and Sony’s prediction that their headset’s VR library ill hit 280 games by the end of the year. By our calculations, that’s almost double.

I'm pretty sure the majority of gamers already have a ps4. Idk why some are still surprised that the sales are down.

Sales may be down over Christmas but Sony still managed to sell 10 million consoles this year in the first nine months. Along with switch having an incredible year, I think 2018 could be quite special for consoles. I especially think Microsoft NEED a big year.

The reason for the drop in console sales is because everyone already has a PS4, those who don't own one either use PC switch or xbox

I think a lot of people judge VR too harshly, most having not tried it for themselves. As some one who owns a PSVR i can honestly say getting an actual hands on with a decent game will change most peoples opinions on the technology's capabilities!

As for the sales figures, this is pretty new technology and still in its early stages (hence the high entry fee). People buying it today are still considered early adopters. Within the next few iterations, prices will come down and the headsets will become less clunky.

Apparently Sony sold 20 million PS4 in 2017. That is a number that doesn't get thrown out very often. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that it will hit 100 million sometime in 2019. I just hope Sony doesn't get too cocky and start making mistakes with the PS5 like they did with the PS3 after the success of the PS1 and PS2.

Whenever I hear 'industry analysts' I assume the people involved live in their own little world. The PS4 is doing great and Sony knows it. It's a strange time when the company has a better grasp of reality then the analysts.

And this is why a ps5 is not needed. Ps4 is killing it big time. Also happy for Nintendo as well I love the switch it's excellent. Hopefully this year my Xbox can have some attention. If my ps4 and switch don't take it all.

I was looking at a major PC upgrade, or a PS4 Pro.. went for the PC upgrade. Limited library on the PS4 compared to PC, and console lifespans are getting much shorter.

It's important to note that despite all the glad handing going on with switch PS4 won both the Nov. and Dec. NPD. With the word of mouth coming from the PSVR community it wouldn't surprise me if PSVR SELLS 4 million units next year. Firewall is going to be insane.

I like my ps4. I would get a PC but I don't got that kinda cash yet. Got laid off twice in 4 years :( anyways I like ps4 only because of the games. A nice touch would be backwards compatibility

Having to pay for online is such a scam. Dont care what platform prefer, it just shouldn't exist.
