From the Vault: Kumble takes eight in Sydney

Legendary Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble took a record 8-141 at the SCG during the 2003-04 Border-Gavaskar Series, the first bowler to take eight wickets in an innings at the ground since Tom Richardson in 1898.

Kumble was one of the few foreign spinners who figured out how to bowl on our flat Australian pitches. He was a fantastic bowler.

I remember watching this match live. This was one of the best test match bowling performances in Australia. Kumble really bowled his heart out in this match.I just loved the way Kumble went about his business in cricket, what a legend of the game.

I remember waking up in the morning and watching Ind vs Aus test matches. The greats like Kumble Saurav and Sachin it was a treat to watch. I never even missed them.
