My dad turned 92 years old today. He drove to my house in the worst part of town, then we had articulate, concise light-hearted conversation for hours. We traveled clear across the city to take care of some business and then he showed me all the native plants that's in his prairie landscaped yard. He can tell you the name of most of the students he taught from way back in the 1950s, who their parents were, and even what grades they received. He taught science when science was just that, not made up bullsh*t. He did the whole military reserve thing and got that pension too. I'm amazed how sharp and physically active dad is compared to Joe.
