With a complete clash of cultures and combat styles, the Vietcong and the German Waffen SS had almost polar-opposite approaches to warfare. Therefore, it begs the question that, in a hypothetical battle, which of these two forces would come out tops?

You have also remember and put into consideration that they wouldn’t be able to hide within the local population. Germans officers/leaders especially in the SS had the ‘you kill Germans, we kill a village’ approach. This would eliminate a lot of that confusion in urban/ village environments.

Actually, most Vietcong AKs were Chinese variants, particularly the Type 56 with folding spike bayonet. Chinese made AK and SKS were far more common in Vietnam than Soviet ones.

In these last 6 months I've learned a lot of things I didn't know about the war and I'm very grateful for this channel

This kinda happened. A lot of SS troops joined the French Foreign Legion because of they were given I new Identity after 10 years. A lot of them fought in Vietnam.

I guess you could say that this matchup actually happened, After the war the French Foreign Legion was basically a largely re-branded German Army. The French government do not like to talk about the fact that they were very happy to take these highly trained battle harden solders and send them out to re-claim the colonies not just in Indochina but all over the world. Plus you also need to know that under the Vichy Government France and the Legion had mixed loyalties and many secrets. Also right after the war they were using the Japanese army to "Police" Indochina until they could re-establish a military in the region, so the influx of trained Germans made this much easier and faster. For the ex-German Soldier the Legion gave these men a new name and a clean history as long as you did your time any war crimes were basically swept under the rug and your past was gone and now your were whatever Nom de Guerre said you were, so Hans and Otto became Rene and Jacques. After every world conflict there are men from both sides that for one reason or another can't go home, don't want to go home or just need to disappear, the Legion offers them a new home, a new ID and a new citizenship, IF YOU DO THE TIME that you signed up to do.

The moment I received the notification, I was stoked out and this video brought me back memories from the tv show that I used to watch.

Hopefully they'll make more videos like this one.

It would be interesting to pair the German Military of WW2 to the NVA. The latter were supplied and trained by Russian advisors, with a few select units being trained by Spetsnaz GRU, who probably had training based on not only combat experience against the Nazis, but also against Western powers in the Korean War.

I loved Deadliest Warrior on TV. The little deathmatch the two sides would have was amazing.

It depends what the engagement field is as they were adapted to two very different methods of warfare. On a field of battle the Waffen will stomp, while in the jungle asymmetric warfare the VC are going to inflict a lot of casualties before the Waffen adapt.
One thing I think will give the Waffen the long term edge that the Chinese, Americans and French were mever willing to do, was extermination. The VC relied heavily on popular support among the networks of villages and towns, for supplies and recruits and hiding. The Waffen would have NO qualms about systematically moving through section after section, wiping out everyone and everything. They'll burn down the whole jungle and genocide everyone.

Wait when did Simple History start taking inspiration from Spike TV?

1:38 Love this video but noticed the mp34 and mp35 were just a mp38 skin and basically just one weapon when they were 2 separate weapons. The mp34 was an Austrian submachine gun kind of resembles the mp28 that were captured and used to supply the Waffen SS after Anchluss. The mp35 was a Danish submachine gun that had a magazine going out of the right side instead of the left (presumably for left handed users?) and was taken over by junkers after the invasion to be supplied to the Waffen SS.

This was done already, but i feel like this would be a bloody stalemate with the nva taking horrendous casualties not only because of their morale destroying brutality on civilian populations, but also German penchant for combined warfare. The german would also take great casualties but censor it to keep supply from the home front because the less they know, the more they'll keep hope alive.
