Creamed Peas

Growing up after church We would go to a favorite restaurant called "Jimmy's chicken" ...ahh the 90s when You could actually go to a restaurant and find home cooked soul food. But since closing in early 2000s, My Dad taught Me how to make this recipe and I still love this nostalgic classic recipe! It reminds Me of childhood days. Miss You Dad❤️

What You need:

Half onion diced
Can of peas drained
Half stick of butter
Salt
Pepper
Onion powder
1 cup of whole milk
1 tablespoon flour, all purpose

First cook butter and onion until tender, salt and pepper

Add tablespoon flour and make roux

Add can of drained peas

Add 1 cup milk, season with salt, pepper, onion powder until you love.

Let simmer on low until thickens the longer simmers the thicker will be add more milk if need to thin.

Enjoy!

This is so good with Fried chicken!

I like also serving with mashed potatoes on side this is one dish I don't mind touching my potatoes and it makes it so good.
