One thing we cant knock Ronnie Deilla for...is his faith in youth.

IMO we need to stop offering “jobs for the boys” and employ actual academy coaches, rather than just giving ex players the chance to do their badges.

Brilliant video, when Ange didn’t play Rocco Vata at all in the final post split games last year I accepted the pathway to the first team is non existent

I remember back in 1990 Sporting Clube de Portugal was in financial ruin. Our stadium was falling apart, we hadn't won a championship since 1982 and the team was in shambles with players forcing the transfer. Futre our academy superstar fled to Porto and Fernando Mendes also an academy player everyone said was going to be our captain fled to Benfica. With Portugal becoming U21 world champion, Sporting decided there the youth had to save the club. Figo, Peixe, Jorge Cadete, were immediately into the first team. It was this generation that prevented the club from worsening its already chaotic situation and set a tradition at the club of calling young players that showed potential. Young players must be given the chance to succeed. Its not easy and the integration must be wisely managed but it is the best way to manage. There would be no Nani or Cristiano Ronaldo without Figo, Capucho, Peixe, Luis Boa Morte, Cadete, and other players that climbed the ranks setting an example and showing young players it is possible. Its possible but ONLY if the club trully invests in the youth.

Scottish boys don’t want to play in Scotland .. especially when they don’t get the opportunities. England is on our doorstep and that’s where EVERY single young boys wants to go and play

I was delighted to see you mention Afolabi, Irish people now say going to Celtic is a disaster. Afolabi went from Southampton to Celtic when doing great for their under age, got no chances bar a few loans and he's doing class with my local side Bohemians including a cup final and just shy of European football. Luca Connell doing well with Bolton as a 17 year old, went to Celtic and it set him back a few years of development.

Great video! Do one on Vladimir Romanov's insane stint as Hearts owner, those were our banter years 😂

Loving the content. Just found this channel today. You just don’t see this much professionalism and quality on Scottish football usually. Hats off sir

Rangers are fielding a non Scottish starting 11 in some games now and Celtic no one seems to be coming through really is hurtful to see this happen 💔

As a Wednesday fan I was there for urhoghide and Shaws breakout season and its such a shame what happened to them. Shaw had all the makings for a class box-to-box midfielder and he just rotted at Celtic until the spark seemed to die.

Hi mate. Great work. It was a very interesting subject but beyond that it was well presented and kept my attention throughout. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects!

I remember karamoko destroying hickey on his debut.... Amazing how different their careers have gone since then

The way Celtic handled Karamoko Dembélé was an absolute travesty

as a rangers fan i feel that we are the same here, our talent barely gets a look in and when they do, they end up going for smaller fees than what they are worth imo. this hurts us as we cant have many homegrown talent in the european squad which makes the overall squad smaller and puts us at a disadvantage

Great video. Nice to see a fan be this honest and look beyond the short-term excitement of the latest big money (relatively) buy. Enjoy your work. If you ever need a hand with footage, I have a decent collection and would be happy to send stuff. 👍

Excellent video - I think one of the ways forward would be to implement a certain number of homegrown players in starting 11's because having them in squad doesn't see to have worked (they just get named in the squad and never played. However, I understand teams would not be keen as it may be deemed a 'weakening' of their team - but if all teams had to do it then it would at least give the best prospects a chance.

The current transfer model doesn’t fit with a conveyor belt youth setup.
Every foreign player we bring in with potential with a view to develop for sale (the current model since 2012-13) puts a potential youth player further down the queue for first team action.
No wonder these bhoys are heading elsewhere.

Ireland fans have started to notice this trend and have given celtic a bit of a reputation as a graveyard for young players. Afolabi, O'Connell and Lee O'Connor all seemed to regress during their time at Celtic. I think a lot of irish people would prefer to see Vata and Lawal leave the club.

Even Scales (not academy but bought young and unproven outside of Ireland) seemed to only get his chances through circumstances. Looked like he wouldn't make it at Celtic for a while.

Completely agree on Mikey Johnstone btw. I know lots of Celtic fans don't rate him at all but based purely on his international performances, that guy is extremely talented. I still think there's Mcgeady level potential in him.

As a Leeds fan I see what you mean about young players wanting to play in England over the border like I look at our u21 and we have loads of Scot’s and Eddie gray one of our best players we quite literally got from Celtic as a youth player who couldn’t break into their first team
