How to Tie a Bow Tie with a Regular Tie

Why follow the herd with your mouldy old regular tie knot when, in not much extra time you could whip up an absolute show-stopper of a bow tie? And in case you've got some sort of moral objection to reading titles, in this tutorial I'll show you how you can make yourself a bow tie without actually owning a bow tie.

I have to say that i tried this and love the idea. Because I already own several ties this gives me more versatility and use. I will note that what seems to be in style is a thin small bow tie, so you have to look for the skinniest and lightest material tie for this to accomplish that. But the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Thanks for this video, I look forward to using this new skill in the future.

I think a thinner necktie might work better. I tried this with one of my wide neckties (which to be fair was probably from the 80s) and it looked clownish as the resulting bow was absurdly wide, tall and thick. I tried it again with a narrower necktie and the resulting bow was closer, but still not something I'd leave my house in. As a daily bowtie wearer I have an image to maintain.
I would like to try this again someday with a narrower necktie, maybe a knit one to see how that works out.
