Hey, Jonny - great tips! Nicely performed & explained. The only thing I'd suggest is (and you've probably heard this) - put a virtual keyboard along the top or bottom showing what you're playing. It would be an efficient & helpful addition to the video. Thanks for passing so much good information along to the masses. Keep up the good work!
Also - Tip#6 - (my opinion) "pentatonic flat-3" just sounds so-oo pretentious & while musically correct for the harmonic orientation & application of the scale, could be more easily explained (I guess technically if you add the natural (3 or 5) to the scale) as "the blues scale for the relative minor, just make the root of the scale the key you're in" (Example: play "A blues scale" while playing blues in key of "C". Just use the C note as the root of your scale for orientation.) I've also heard this scale referred to as "the C major blues scale" in that it's a brighter/happier scale than the traditional blues scale. Or the Country/Blues scale.

I just stumbled onto your channel. I’m a professional sax player but lately have spent a lot of time improving my piano skills. I’m very much a beginner on piano and I just want to say that your channel has helped me immensely when it comes to putting the process in perspective. I sometimes get frustrated when playing piano because I’m a damn good sax player. I know my theory, sight reading and standards, but when it comes to the piano I find the task of applying my knowledge to it daunting. I REALLY appreciate the easy ‘tricks’ you put into your videos. For someone like me it just lightens the load a bit. I can much more easily approach the piano and get to work with the tricks than diving in at the deep end. Thanks man. I look forward to the rest of your vids.

As usual, I resemble a few of the "Don't" examples! I just wish I had more time to get back on my PWJ studies!

Its your fault Johnny! Because your material is so clearly presented, interesting and diverse,
I felt its an unparralleled opportunity to really learn the piano, so I said goodbye to my old wall piano and bought a new digital $500 piano! You are responsible!😎

1 wrong blues scale ,If you play C chord,Play C blues scale ,and F chord,You play F scale ,And you made a mistake .
2 Play too fast . 100 Bpm is the best .
3 Repeat the same riff。
4 Don't connect licks
5 run-on sentences。 There is no gap between sentences 。
6 only can play C blues scale。
7 Harmonized from the bottom 。
8 Don't use full keyboard range
9 Same baseline
10 No passing chords。

My biggest mistake was that I didn't practice my left hand enough. I did practice it ( I could sit for hours), but it was kind of boring. As a result, when I played both hands - it started to sound pretty sloppy.

Thanks, Jonny. I found your first point very interesting. I wondered whether blues players changed key as they changed chord. Sometimes I hear a more majory sound on the dominant part of the progression. Is that allowed?

So, other than speed, what are the main differences between blues and boogie woogie?
