It seems that if desire in 1 is occurrent then there's no difference between 1 and 3.
Also suppose that pain is an internal sensation, then it seems that there's no difference between being aware of pain and being aware of a hat in terms of the intentional sense and constitutive sense of conscious of.

It's surprising to hear a philosopher of Searle's caliber being so dogmatic about issues in the philosophy of perception that are so highly controversial.
