Write better to speak better!

I’m an English teacher with extensive experience in writing and teaching non-native English learners, especially those preparing for timed exams like TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, OPIc, and EIKEN.

I also offer speaking lessons, but I put more emphasis on written tasks. The rationale behind the approach?

Having a regular writing practice boosts verbal fluency. For one, with today’s flood of information, writing is crucial for organizing your thoughts. We, after all, have a limited brain processing capacity. (Rather, we have trained our brains to process a fairly limited amount of information at a time.)

We make sense of things in our heads but when we actually take the time to write down what’s on our minds, we organize our thoughts to make them cohere even more.

And the more organized our thoughts, the better speaker we become.
