Something about the silverado is just much more visually pleasing, looks a lot meaner upfront

I looked all last year and have zero brand loyalty. I compared the 5.0 coyote Lariat vs. 5.3 Silverado LTZ vs 5.7 e-torque Laramie. In real world comparisons, Things like availability and pricing played a huge role in my buying decision.

I liked the option packages on the Ford but dealers refused to budge off of full MSRP in my area. Availability of the 5.0 was also very limited.

The Silverado was more easily available and was a better MSRP value, but poor dealer incentives and the 5.3 was the poorest engine choice of the three in my opinion.

The Laramie became my choice due to availability, interior, ride quality and great year end incentives. Getting almost $9k knocked off MSRP allowed me to add aftermarket accessories like a Leer 100xq topper, bed rug, window tint and power running boards and still be below the Ford and Chevy in price.

If price wasn't an option, the Ford and Ram were my first choices. Unfortunately Ram made it easy in my area due to price and availability of the model I was looking at. MSRP'S for the models I looked at ranged from $62-72k.

So far, no regrets buying the Ram. Ben makes your purchase easier as I was an informed buyer in terms of options and availability. If you have strong brand loyalty, ignore my post! 🤣😂

My husband ordered a 250 lariat antimatter blue. It's gorgeous, runs beautifully. Had a dodge 2500 for 20 years that was held together with spit, band aids and the standard dodge rust. Hopefully another 20 years with this truck.

Diesel fuel prices increases so high you are not saving nothing on MPG

I’ve played around with all 3 configurators online and my takeaway is that dollar for dollar feature for feature, the Chevy appears to be the best value.

Edit: also you technically shouldve brought an LT silverado. The RST is considered to be higher up in the trim hierarchy. XLT, Big Horn, and LT are all the “volume sellers”

Not a truck guy so excuse my lack of knowledge. I just bought a 2023 Ram 1500 Laramie and love it. I have the hood vents and nice leather interior. Truck has all I need. Got it with 18 miles for 61k. I just traded my scat pack challenger for it, so could really careless if the F150 is faster then my ram lol. Didn’t buy a truck for speed. Doesn’t seem like you can go wrong with any of these trucks imo. Got mine in granite metallic grey.

The fact that you need to go up to a Lariat to get auto 4wd on Ford's is maddening to me.

ford looks better imo and headlights and tailights look wayyyy better

It is insulting that a RAM at $55-60k+ does not have LED headlights as standard. That’s pathetic.

Eleven years ago I went from being a sports sedan driver (BMW, Infiniti, Mercedes) to a half-ton driver after purchase of an Airstream. I am very particular and like details. I have owned four trucks now and have shopped the big three each time adding the Tundra to each shopping analysis. I listen and read everything I can find on these trucks while shopping and then make my own judgement with price being secondary as I have to live with it and the difference is nominal.

I have ended up with an F150 every time. I observe benefits of each make; however, the Ford has, to me, a better overall package- feature set and aluminum. What you say at 6:23 is critical to the purpose of a truck and to those who need a truck rather than just want to drive one and it is in those details that Ford blows the others away. Additionally, you should have mentioned that the XLT Ford does offer hybrid option since you mentioned the others's options regardless of $$$. When I shopped for my first truck in 2012, I was shocked how back then only Ford had the truck tech at the XLT level I was looking at set to assist with towing. The other makes were like, "just stick the trailer on and go" but the braking, etc was not tow smart according to those dealers and the sales brochures. Additionally, I noticed the RPM/gearing points for engine output. This is HUGE when towing as hills impact gear down and noise of engine. RAM, Chevy and Toyota were high rev to get the power meaning you would hear all of that engine noise towing hills, etc. The Ford was the lowest RPM to power. This was my first experience.

In 2015 I shopped again and now I started seeing towing smarts in most of the truck brands. I went first to the Ram dealer and looked at a loaded EcoDiesel. I drove it and liked it but then the details killed it. One major issue was the extremely low payload capacity of 1200 lbs. My trailer tongue weight is 1000# alone. Tongue weight subtracts from payload capacity not towing/pulling capacity. Add to that the reports were that there was some issues with overheating at times. The dealer steered me to their largest Hemi as soon as he heard about my 1000# weight. Then I was faced with terrible mpg compared to the other three.

The 2015 Tundra gave me the same impression that Tundra has given me each shopping term- we are just a token truck riding on the Toyota dependability name. Nothing special. Low MPG, etc. I liked the drive but...
So, to shorten this I shopped 2012, 2015, 2017, 2022 model years and purchased. My most recent purchase was a 2022 F150 Hybrid Platinum. My only concern was payload but it has over 1600# on the door sticker which is good for me. I liked the Duramax of the Silverado too (it was hard to find) but I did not like the interior. I liked the Ram looks but the payload on a loaded one is lower by about 200# from the hybrid and although the ride is softer, I do not believe it is better for towing. Plus, you have the huge hungry engine. Sorry this so long but It takes me months to shop and gather. 2022 was awful as there were almost no trucks. I had to drive a regular eco boost to get the gist of the 2022 hybrid. It is different. The hybrid is a bit more hard riding to me, somewhat quivers without a load but it is also a heavier frame. My second choice would be the GMC Denali with Duramax. I leaned that direction too based on MPG but then I also note our government has turned against diesels and the way they work, I wouldn't be surprised if they added some weird diesel surcharge or something. EVs do not make sense for towing- yet. Toyota says hydrogen is the way to go.

Can you show the stickers? Would love to compare payloads

No rear seat cup holders in the Silverado?

Agree with the combination if you could take the best from each, that said my preference would be the Silverado which probably has the best overall drivetrain with the Duramax. I have always I liked the look of the front Ford doors, but the F-150 looks too boxy and the Ram is getting a bit dated certainly no excuse not to have led headlights as standard and I don't think I could ever get used to a rotorary dial shifter. Biased because I have a 23 Slilverado LT with the LZ0 currently in transit from Fort Wayne.

Ben I do not know how you do it. You do it every day. Too bad GMC Sierra and Toyota Tundra were not included. It would be interesting. I do not now how you do such a good job, but you do. It is interesting the many configurations you can get with trucks. I credit you for your efforts and research.

The one that has the most expected longevity would be my top choice. All the girly frills mean nothing if it isn't running.

I am completely torn right now between a Chevy RST Z71 w/ Duramax and a very well loaded Ram Big Horn with the 5.7 eTorque. On the exterior aesthetically I like the Silverado a little better, interior I like the RAM better with the exception of the infotainment screen. Please tell me which truck you would pick and why. Pricewise they're almost identical.

I would take the Silverado. I love the engine and how aggressive it looks. The F 150 is my least favorite based solely on how it looks. It just has no backbone and looks like something my grandmother would drive. They really need to update that and make it look at least a little mean.
