Hello guys and in this video im going to show you a common work arround for setting up transparency with glare in blender. Its a bit of a cheap way of doing things but can get the job done. This tutorial is valid for Blender 2.9 however it should also be able to be applied to 2.7.

If it doesn't work for you, the "set alpha"-node has a setting called "replace alpha". Use that and it should work, atleast that did the trick for me.

this is great!!! it's seems to be small thing, but it's so valuable and i was always bummed, that the glare is cut off by the alpha channel, when rendering with transparent. thanks!!!

Hello! I have a problem with the glare, when I composite it ontop of a white background. It dissapears completely, even with the instructions from your video. Is there any way around that? thanks

You are using the Emit Channel, but my object is glowing because of the HDRI. So i cant use this technique.
" setting Maths/Add to 0, Set Alpha to 'Replace Alpha' and don't forget to make sure you are outputting RGBA not just RGB ....boom" is working but not really, the effect i really suttle instead of a high glow what i shown to me

when you save this image as PNG, will there still be a glow/bloom spillover on the edges of the sphere meeting with the transparent background?

Doesn't really work, most of the glare from the actual nodes is lost unfortunately :( ;/

Edit: better than what I had previously though I guess, many thanks.
