Mine is ok when permanently on, but on auto it goes rapidly dim after a bright burst. The former seems to imply it's ok for charge. Anyway, before the video, I thought the LUX dial was a brightness control, then wondered why the light comes on during the day. No instructions came with mine!

I have bought several of these units over the years. They don't last long. I have had ANTS get into tiny holes in the light unit. I have had rain get into the solar panels. I sealed the solar panel plastic housing with silicon and moisture still destroys the glass panel over time. The electronics are not coated to prevent moisture either. I have opened several units to find some components rusted causing open circuits and shorted contacts. The batteries have been changed over recent years from 5-NICD pack to single 3.7 V NIMH cell. If the manufacturer would spray the circuit boards with waterproof coating and seal the units or make then so that moisture / rain cannot enter, the units might be wort a price increase. For now, wait for a 15 to 25% sale coupon and buy an extra unit for replacement when they FAIL. JwgK Houston, TX

Bought one from The Reject Shop in Australia ($40) and it's great! I modded it slightly by soldering a shorter cable, (32AWG white speaker cable) to the collector panel to look neater. Very easy, only about a dozen philips screws to open it.
Saw 11.2-11.8V at the plug in bright conditions, so the collector seems efficient.
Very bright and good light spread.

cool got a version of this light things its a generic model companies buy n slap there name on it, the dial info will be extremely Helpful in stopping the dam thing turning on soon as a fly goes down the street :)

Had mine for ages but it doesn't work with the solar panel plugged in permanently...does the switch need to be set to on or auto?

How do I reset this model, I moved mine and it’s coming on in dusk and not turning on at night.

Installed one last august, darn thing only comes on for 3 seconds no matter where the timer button is set.

ours worked well for a year now doesn't come on with motion. It is charged & works in ' on ' position, but not motion auto setting.

Every once in a while the light starts to flash on and off. Why? I have to turn the unit off and then on again the next day.

how long does the solar panel last? i notice that the solar panel on direct sunlight looks like fuggy or looks like too old and not charging any more. is it okey to scrub the panels?
