Delivering a quality nursing education throughout the pandemic required plenty of expertise and flexibility, as well as an educational model already based around online learning.
Marian University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, with three start dates per year and administered at program sites in Indianapolis, Nashville, and Oklahoma City. Our curriculum uses technology in nursing education and delivers:
· Online coursework that teaches you the fundamentals and theories of nursing practice.
· Nursing skills labs that provide a realistic, risk-free environment for you to practice your clinical skills.
· Nursing simulation labs that develop your clinical judgement in lifelike patient care scenarios.
· Clinical rotations that afford you real-world nursing experience in top healthcare facilities.
“When the pandemic started and we had to adjust to all remote and virtual experiences because we couldn't be in the hospital setting,” clinical lead faculty and Marian ABSN alumni Lindsay Degnan recalls, “Marian was very quick and efficient in developing those new experiences for students. Some of those experiences we've continued using even though now we can be back in the hospital setting.”
“We are exploring different teaching modalities like virtual reality so that we can simulate some of those experiences and those types of patients that students may not get the chance to care for or see in the hospital setting, but it will better prepare them when they see that patient later on in their career.”
As Lindsay concludes, “Marian provides a really good foundation of knowledge and clinical experiences for students and greatly prepares them as they enter into the nursing workforce.”
