I've had it happen multiple times, and it seems to occur a lot more in Korean culture, since they're sensitive about age (high discrimination as you get older). The recruiter actually reached out to me for an interview, and during the interview kept telling me I have too much experience and that the team lead would not be comfortable... Then why contact me and waste my time!! lol.... By the way, this was a perfect position for me.

There have been many studies about job stayers and job switchers. After about 24months you would be better off switching jobs than staying because the cost of living adjustments that most people get after 24 months didn't keep up with inflation and the way to compensate for that is to change jobs. Add that fact to the fact that younger generations are really struggling to find loyalty and become bored with the rise of social media (tik tok attentions span) and you have a recipe for the majority of your candidates are going to be job switchers. Hiring managers somehow perceive over qualified people as job switches and more risky when you can make the case the opposite if more than likely.

One question: Or i missed. ??What does over qualified look like in an interviewers remarks if they don't actually come out and say it? I'm reluctant to accusation -audit it for risk of sounding cringy. "I know you probably think I'm over qual, but.." Rather its probably no secret you are at least qualified and likely you aren't an 80% or + fit into existing resources. I've had interviews where my line of questioning took us from What was important to them to Why it should be, then to exactly how I would do it for maximum impact, but but deep down I know they want a minion, not a master.
