SawStop 10-inch Compact Job Site Table Saw CTS-120A Tool Review

For details on this saw go to:

Overall Impression
The trade-off for many contractors who recently went to cordless table saws is cordless, size, and weight vs flesh sensing protection.
There is no argument that the SawStop CTS is corded, bigger, and heavier.
You're buying this machine first for the protection it offers, and second for the quality of the tools build.
The SawStop CTS compact table saw is well built with precision fit and finish, resulting in a very smooth and easy-to-operate saw.
The biggest takeaway is that SawStop is now making a more compact job site saw for under 1,000 bucks.
Yup that’s a lot of money compared to other corded table saws out there, but you just need to talk to one contractor who has had a table saw injury claim and see what they think of that cost.

I used a SawStop cabinet grade saw during a woodworking program and loved it, but it’s way too large and expensive for a corner of my 1 car garage. I’m reliant on my hands for a living (and for living) and around $1, 000 for the saw and stand is easily worth it to me to reduce the risk of a life changing injury. I do wish that SawStop would make a higher precision small table saw for those of us that are woodworkers without the room for a cabinet grade saw. Track saws are great but can be tedious when you need to make repeated rips at exactly the same width. Thanks as always for an informative review, your testing methodology is superb.

This is the best, most thorough review of a table saw I've ever seen. You covered all the critical aspects of accuracy and adjustments to the thousandths of a millimeter using the correct measuring tools and procedures. I now have all the information I need to make an informed decision thanks to you. Very well done!

@Rob Robillard I can't think of anyone that I respect more as a consummate professional than you. I always feel like I can trust your reviews 100%. There's no BS about them.

I'm a home based hobbiest and I am saving up for this to get rid of my cheap Craftsman I bought 15 years ago that I collects dust and I hate using. The size of the CTS will be good for my small workshop in the corner of my basement and will help me feel a little better knowing there's added safety

Great review as always!

I follow your canal from Germany, I am thrilled how well you explain the things especially from the point of view of a worker who has to earn money with it and where downtime due to accidents can be avoided. Thank you for this. Very big praise to all who have helped you. No wonder your canal is growing. Please make sure that subtitles are loaded with many of my friends do not know English but need to see you. Super your work thanks again for

I've been watching dozens of reviews on this saw and this is the best one so far. All the information on the out of the box tolerances and adjustability are extremely helpful and absent from other reviewers.

Thank you.

Great review! I was most impressed of the way you setup and used the dial indicator to get everything straight and true.

I am a small wooden craft maker and this saw will be perfect for me, none of my things need to be as accurate as what you guys are setting up ( But I certainly admire your skillsets). Loved your review of the saw. I was conflicted on buying a cheaper compact or jobsite saw but as my wise wife said a few hundred extra dollars is totally worth it for the safety factor. As others have said fantastic review. Thank you for taking the time you certainly helped this guy out.

Excellent review, with a lot of effort behind it. Really liked the fact that you measured the accuracy of so many features. I’ll probably purchase this saw in the coming year.

I like the review on SawStop! I cut myself on a craftsman old contractor table saw got 6 stitches! That being said I was not using proper push stick! I still use a Dewalt saw now! I would like this one because it is small! I have learn over the years equipment safety! Thanks for the good review on the saw!

Really hoping that sawstop comes out with a cordless table saw at some point. You hit the nail on the head towards the end of the video. I am 100 percent cordless on the job site. This saw is a huge step in the right direction and surprisingly very affordable.

Think you may have just convinced me that this is the table saw I want to invest in. I have been a predominately hand tool woodworker, only power tools I use are a Bandsaw and Thicknesser for stock prep. Reckon I will add a CTS to the equation.

Thanks for the review. I’m in the process of changing all of my table saws to Sawstop. So far I’ve been able to change the two in my shop out to an ics and a pcs. The last one is the job site saw. Should be able to do it this year. Been in the cabinet trade for years and the safety of the saws is well worth the money.

I am sold after your review. I am not a contractor and I am terrified from the table saw . In my actual line of work I have witness many accidents and I have been injured before . For me Saw stop have made accessible this safe technology to general public by offering this excellent machine for more or less 1000$ with the stand. One thing I need to know is list of blades that are compatible.

I think Rob, that if your a carpenter like me, who has lost part of his pinky, and had it sown back on ( Thank the Lord), you’ll buy this portable Saw, sold my Bosch, and bought this, haven’t broken it in yet, so thanks for this Video Brother. USE A PUSH

I own a Bosch 4100XC-10 with the wheeled stand. Its been an excellent saw, but Im with Rob, for a job site saw, safety is a big deal.
However, the need for dust extraction is a bit of a deal breaker for me with this SawStop saw. Alot of times we arent using a saw for an entire day, just need to make a rip or three and put it away, or fold it up and push it out of the way. The last thing we need to have to do is drag out a vacuum outside in the dirt or inside on the floor while framing. I think it might be OK for doing some trim work where you are set up and are making multiple cuts throughout multiple days.

Great review as always! Thank you. I would enjoy hearing your thoughts on this compact Sawstop table saw versus the Festool CSC, compact and battery powered, which just started shipping, Sept 6, 2023. I am baffled that Festool bought Sawstop a number of years ago and the Festool CSC Portable Battery Powered Saw doesn’t use the Sawstop safety technology.
