Exhibition catalogues are intended as both contributions to scholarship and to create a book which has a permanent usefulness, a good catalog, especially one of enough interest to be bought by some libraries, to outlast a website .But, what purpose does a printed catalog serve today? Exhibitions today are documented online with its unlimited potential for showing images (and video, and multiple views of objects or installations), allowing virtual visits and with the option to add ancillary material such as reviews and articles discussing the show including instantaneous, eternal and inexpensive global distribution. Have art catalogues become fetish objects? My art work retrospective via museum catalogues with the essay extract in the form of subtitles by art historians Diane Wateau and Evelyn Artaud describing my art work exhibited.
