Tim Lippe (Ed Helms) still lives in his childhood town of Brown Valley, Wisconsin, where he sells insurance -- though his career stopped moving forward years ago. But all this is about to change. When a co-worker is killed in a bizarre accident, Tim is entrusted with the task of attending the annual insurance convention at Cedar Rapids in Iowa.

Off the leash for the first time since he can remember, Tim is bowled over by what for him is a really big deal. And things get even better when he meets three convention veterans who take him under their wing.

Teaming up with gorgeous Joan (Anne Heche), experienced Isiah Whitlock (Ronald Wilkes) and fun-loving Dean Ziegler (John C Reilly), Tim is about to have the adventure of a lifetime.
