ScienceCasts: Comet ISON Meteor Shower

Sungrazing Comet ISON, expected to become a bright naked-eye object later this year, might dust the Earth with meteoroids in early 2014. Researchers discuss the possibilities in this week's ScienceCast.

Don't know why some people respond to me with hate. I don't use foul language in my replies. Many times I've engaged in stimulating correspondence on the video subject matter with people who realized they didn't express their views clearly. have we ever gone throgh ISONS debri field that is where I'm focused as Ison has companions & nasa's websight shows earth passing through right after the comet goes by, this might be the most spectacular comet in human history so to generalize to me seems to be an attemp to minimize

since they r electrical they do not need to be close in our understanding of close.This comet already has satellites with it & debri & we cannot see into the asteroid belt & can only opinionate what you think.The asteroid belt is notoriously mysterious because we cannot see into it thus the unsure path of ison because we had to wait for it to emerge from the belt to see if it's trajectory changed & something is knocking these comets & asteroids toward us?

Science inform us about "the end" that is good for me and I am not worry.

The asteroid belt is not like those shown in Star Wars. Off the top of my head, the average distance between asteroids is something like 1 million kilometers. It's highly unlikely - though not impossible - that the comet will be close enough to affect anything. In addition, most asteroids are found in the plane of the Solar System (known as the ecliptic), whereas comets come from a much wider variety of directions. Interactions are unlikely.
